Okay lets spice thing up. Keen to hear your perspective as a die hard Hamilton fan? Do you really think Hamilton is going to be able to win another title? I'm not disputing his skill, legacy and reputation. I'm just of the opinion his time has passed. He's lost his edge, I think its the dulling of the senses that irrevocably comes with age. He doesnt have a car that is the class of the field anymore. It just seems like such waste to be relegated to the midfield for x years before retiring. Your reputation fading with each your of obscurity on the Grid. Should always go out on a high if possible. Surely he cant be enjoying being passed by this new generation of drivers. As a fan, this must kill you. So my question to you. a) do you belileve he'll ever be able to fight for a championship again and B) do you want him to stick around none the less, even if this means plodding in the mid-field. To me it feels a bit sad.18:23

This does seem to be the general consensus in the paddock. I don't think anyone is denying his exceptional skill.18:09

I think for most teams the business case is quite simple. Euro 50 million + for 0,2 or 0,3 extra performance (that Max is believed to bring) is a pretty good deal. Engineering that difference will likely be harder, more uncertain and potentially more costly. That's what's good about a free market. Drivers are literally paid what they are perceived to be worth.18:07

Sounds good indeed. Should open up a lot of strategy options if they are more close together during a race. Great insight into Max's skills in being able to read the tires and adapt accordingly. Evidently a skill not every driver has in their arsenal. Go Yuki. (Lawson who?)17:55

Truth be told, I'dd love to see it. It would make for an amazing season an be quite a legendary achievement. Realistically however, It's a numbers game and highly unlikely. But if the stars align, Lando and Oscar end up in a Rosberg Hamilton fight. yuki truly steps up, RB get some decent mid-season upgrades, and Mercedes enters the mix more often to eat away further points from McLaren on occasion.... More likely, McLaren will be consistently fastest at most tracks. Piastri's will eek out a lead somewhere halfway in the season and Papaya rules instated, making him the no.1 driver. aaaaand allowing him to claim his first WDC.10:41

The car appears to have a very small window in which the maximum performance can be extracted. So yeah I guess very much track specific. So winning at some tracks is potentially possible, maybe when others drop the ball strategically. If Saudi is such a track.... Lets see. But in the long run you cant win a championship with the 3rd or fourth car and just a few track dependent exceptions, I would think. Besides I think it would be good for the sport if Piastri wins one.17-04-2025 19:59

As long as they keep stroll on, they won't be a serious contender and wont be considered a serious and rationally led team. Regardless of Newey, the new wind-tunnel and other top tier hires. You'dd hope that Lawrence Stroll would recognize this and head into 2026 with a top car designed by a top designer, with a great engine and two top drivers. Why not Max and Alonso.... (one can dream)17-04-2025 19:50

Stop stirring the pot! "in the hands of the right drivers" - Plural ! So not a dig at Norris. His comments about small mistakes are a tiny dig at McLaren as a whole.17-04-2025 19:44

Nothing Marko can't handle. Just a straight, forthright and blunt discussion between a direct Austrian and equally direct Dutchman.17-04-2025 19:40

Exactly. Never one to placate or sugar-coat his opinion.17-04-2025 19:36
