While this will never happen, your point is valid. In 1984, I remember Lauda and several past and current F1 drivers competing in equal Mercedes 190E at Nurburgring circuit. A very young Ayrton Senna started last on the grid, worked his way through the field to finish first. It was unbelievable and there were some hurt feelings as Senna was just a youngster. Perhaps one day they could run a spring race with equally prepared F2 machinery. That would be great to see.23-03-2025 23:29

The team asked Oscar to speed up as Lando's gap to George was about two seconds. He did. In two laps it was over four seconds. I think Oscar had more time in hand.23-03-2025 22:46

Normally I agree with KC but not in this instance. Max's laps looked good. The little slips were ones others were having. He qualified within a hair of Lewis who set a lap record. That is not "fighting" with your car, it is making tweaks to better understand your car. No, neither the Ferraris, Red Bulls or Mercedes pair look as smooth on long runs as the McLarens but things are very close. I doubt anyone is going to run away with the win.21-03-2025 16:33

The timing is of interest to me. Why now? Why not at season's end? I wonder if there is increasing speculation that Lando might bolt (we do not know the fine print of his contract) and McLaren are locking up one of their drivers? Does anyone have any insights? I am merely being speculative.12-03-2025 03:16

If ever a test was an attractive Drive To Survive storyline, this is it. A 40th birthday test would be great.12-03-2025 01:50

Marko must have been at a different test watching different drivers than what we witnessed. Lewis is very close to Charles and Ferrari is reasonably close to McLaren, who are clearly quickest. Still, we do not know the fuel loads, whether the engines were turned up or not, etc. And neither does Marko. The first practice next weekend will be the true measure of where teams are.10-03-2025 01:01

This is very good news. Rare car collections are like fine art and should be displayed for all to see, not stored away out of sight.07-03-2025 15:28

If people think that age at this point in Hamilton's career is an issue then they have not been keeping relevant with age related performances in sports in general. If Charles out performs Lewis it will be because he is better. Period. And if Lewis outperforms Charles it will be because he is better. Period. While the differ in ages, they are both in their prime.05-03-2025 05:11

"McLaren could win their first constructors' title since 1998" Hmm. Who won the constructor's title last year?01-03-2025 17:45

We know teams sandbag to some extent in pre-season testing. They dial the engine down, or they run extra fuel etc. Still, we do learn quite a bit and the Williams looks good. I think they should give a regular constructors points to the fastest teams on the last day. Then we would know. I am kidding, of course, but not by much.01-03-2025 02:17
