"...won't you ever leave off?" Just how and why does any fan 'move on' when the governing body has reneged on its primary duty of avoiding any unfair treatment to anyone? By not sending the stewards' denial of a valid appeal to their own internal court, the ICA, for review and validation has allowed ONE World Driving Championship out of the 74 awarded to be determined in a race with an illegal restart. That's a stain. The ICA may not amend the results but we certainly get a better rationale than "We can't..." Bayer's after-analysis incorrectly stated there's nothing to be done for the 'human error'. Send the stewards' denial of an otherwise valid appeal to the ICA.24-02-2025 17:09

No way this is about 1 WDC out of 74 awarded coming behind an illegal restart, is it?24-02-2025 17:36

I'd love to see some transparency around how the GFX changes were delayed a year but the cost cap was left in place...That's the fast path to the dud racing that fans are having to watch. The "Rush to 'meh'" was only made worse by the reduction of the inaugural cap from $175m to $145m.10-03-2024 22:38

Turning the sport into 'Peyton Place' is NOT JUST a Mercedes concern, is it?10-03-2024 19:12

One Merc car sales is about 4,000 cans of an energy drink. Let's not pretend the risk profiles are similar. The amount of misleading headlines that have been generated from this ICA ruling are making my blood boil.09-02-2024 17:29

Merc gave up because Stuttgart didn't want to piss off SOME OF THEIR MARKET. It's the risk profile disadvantage for an actual manufacturer of automobiles versus that of an energy drinks company. The sporting fairness considerations didn't enter into it for them. The ruling is pretty clear that 'no unfairness to anyone' is a cornerstone.08-02-2024 16:31

This appeal did not discard the broken restart due to 'balance of interests' argument. There was no way to unwind the bad call without doing additional harm. This rational does not apply to season ending events. The Merc appeal would likely have held.07-02-2024 23:27

This is either willfully misleading or just bad journalism. The underlying principle used to accept a 'balance of interests' argument which can have no standing in a season ending event.07-02-2024 21:46

If the organization you work for studies the events and releases findings that say Masi made errors, it is not just Mercedes claiming that Masi robbed the winner of his due. It's the industry. Start framing the story truthfully. What Masi did was break the event that decided the championship. By declaring the error and doing nothing to make those wronged whole, i.e. void the last two illegally conducted laps, the FIA is breaking the entire sport.02-04-2023 01:00

...but "Everyone is extremely passionate..." should not include the Race Director, right? They should focus on safety and fairness and nothing else. What's Michael's rationale for having made race restart calls that were so for away from those goals?25-03-2023 19:14
