Max Verstappen got away well at the start of the Mexican Grand Prix. The Dutchman had to battle with George Russell and Lewis Hamilton in P2 and P3, but Verstappen stayed in the lead after the first lap.

Strong start for Verstappen

Sergio Perez also had a good start. The Mexican gained a place and currently lies in third position. George Russell was overtaken by Lewis Hamilton and Perez in the first corners, meaning the younger Brit is now on P4. The Mercedes driver drove a little too aggressively over the kerbs and lost time against the competition.

Valtteri Bottas started the race on medium tyres, but the Finn dropped back from P6 to P8. As a result, Charles Leclerc moved up to sixth position. Teammate Carlos Sainz currently lies on P5. So far, Hamilton is managing to keep up well with rival Verstappen from P2 on mediums, while the Dutchman started the race on softs.
