The drama in Belgium has already begun for
Sergio Perez. The Mexican crashes in Les Combes on his way to the grid. On full wets he loses his rear end but when correcting he shoots off the track anyway.
No backing for Verstappen
Perez hit the wall at low speed, but his car was written off. The Mexican has stepped out of the car and will not start at the
Belgian Grand Prix. Jonathan Wheatley announces that the car is too badly damaged and that Perez will not go to the grid.
This means for
Max Verstappen that he will not have back up in the
Belgian Grand Prix. Perez was due to start from seventh which was already not ideal, but now the Dutchman is the only remaining Red Bull in the field.
Lewis Hamilton cannot rely on much backing either, as teammate
Valtteri Bottas will start from the back of midfield.
