Kimi Raikkonen has announced on his own Instagram account that he will be returning to Sauber next season on a two-year deal. Ferrari announced that the 39-year-old will leave the Reds at the end of the season.
Raikkonen put on Instagram: "Guess who's back? Next two years with Sauber F1 team ahead! Feels extremely good to go back [sic] where it all began!"
The Ice Man added a picture of him in Sauber overalls who he raced for in 2001. His new team, Sauber posted on Twitter the news about his arrival.
The two-year deal will see him leave
Formula 1 in 2020, has he already confirmed earlier in the season he will not be around for the major rule changes in 2021. He is expected to have a straight swap with Charles Leclerc who is favourite for the vacant Ferrari seat.
