During the qualifying session of the Bahrain Grand Prix, Max Verstappen had complaints about his brakes. Afterwards, Red Bull Racing hoped that the FIA would allow them to go in and make adjustments. That request was met with a favourable decision by Jo Bauer,  the technical director of the FIA.

Several components of Verstappen's brakes were replaced while the car was in Parc Fermé. As there is no gird penalty for this, Verstappen will start in his original position in seventh place.

It was not only Red Bull Racing and Verstappen that were allowed to make adjustments. The FIA have allowed several teams to do the same.

Another driver, for example, is Lando Norris.  The McLaren driver had a gearbox side flat O-ring replaced. This also incurs no penalty for him and all other drivers with changes.
