Charles Leclerc makes it four pole positions in as many years at the
Azerbaijan Grand Prix by taking pole position in Baku ahead of
Oscar Piastri and Csrlos Saizn in P2 and P3, respectively.
The
Ferrari driver continues his Saturday dominance around the
Baku City Circuit, making it his fourth pole on the bounce, giving him the perfect opportunity to back up his
Italian Grand Prix win last time out.
Behind him was Piastri in P2, but his teammate
Lando Norris was eliminated in a shock Q1 exit. Sainz took P3, with
Sergio Perez only good enough for P4.
George Russell was able to take P5 ahead of a slow
Max Verstappen in P6, and an even slower
Lewis Hamilton in P7. Fernando Alonso,
Franco Colapinto and Alex Albon rounded out the top ten.
Ollie Bearman almost made it into Q3 alongside Colapinto in his first full
F1 weekend, but he just finished in P11.
Yuki Tsunoda and
Pierre Gasly finished in P12 and P13, respectively, while
Nico Hulkenberg could only finish in P14 behind Bearman.
Lance Stroll was the last to be eliminated in P15.
Along with Norris in Q1,
Daniel Ricciardo also saw his qualifying end prematurely, while his teammate made it through after only finishing in P16.
Valtteri Bottas, Zhou Guanyu and
