Now that Mick Schumacher will make his
Formula 1 debut with Haas next year, he also had to choose a race number. He will keep this number throughout his
Formula 1 career, so he can only make that choice once.
Funny mix
Schumacher has chosen race number 47. A number that according to him was created by
"a funny mix of things," he tells
Crash.net.
"Four and seven are two of the numbers I really like. With number four I won the F3 championship and seven is a number that is close to my heart.”Schumacher confirms that the seven in his race number is also a reference to the number of world titles his father won during his F1 career. "Sure, partly because of that, but it's also just a number that both me and my family like.”
All birthdays together
Another striking fact about his race number, has to do with the birthdays in his family. "If you add up all the birthdays of our family you come to 47. That was of course very nice and I think it underlines the fact that I had to choose this number.”
