Qualifying for the
Brazilian Grand Prix was dominated by Mercedes.
Lewis Hamilton takes pole for the sprint qualifying session. The Briton is followed by
Max Verstappen and
Valtteri Bottas.
P2 for Verstappen
Verstappen went to Brazil as a favourite, but it is Mercedes that beats the clock on the
Interlagos circuit. In Q1 and Q2 Hamilton ends up on top of the timesheet and is well ahead of the
Red Bull Racing drivers. Especially
Sergio Perez had a lot of trouble to follow the top drivers.
In Q3 Hamilton continued that line, but Verstappen managed to snatch P2 from Bottas again. On P4 Perez finally managed to connect. In the final run, Hamilton and Verstappen both improved their times, but Max couldn't get any closer. The Brit had a lead of no less than four-tenths. Verstappen will start from P2, ahead of Bottas and Perez.
