The front row of the grid for the race consists of Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen. The two will be keen to start making the difference at Turn 1 in Las Vegas. It makes people think a little bit of a Singapore scenario, when there was a Ferrari on pole on a street circuit.

Max Verstappen then qualified in P11, but climbed up to finish fifth during the race. During the post-qualifying press conference, he and Leclerc were asked if such a scenario is in the cards again. In any case, Leclerc sees a difference: "I think in Singapore, in some places, you can drive one and a half, two seconds off the pace and the cars behind can still not overtake, so here it's going to be very, very different." But the Ferrari driver still sees the positives: "Honestly, we looked quite good, stronger than other races. I’m not saying that we are stronger in race pace compared to Max, but I think we are closer than other races. If there's one race to win since Singapore, it's this one and I'll obviously give it my all."

It is more like Baku than Singapore

For his part, Verstappen draws a comparison with another race: "I think this is a little bit more like Baku but again, in the race, I think it will depend a lot on who can keep the tyres alive or whoever grains their tyres more, so we'll have to wait and see tomorrow." In any case, the Dutchman is happy that until the race it will remain a secret who is most likely to win: "That's the beautiful thing. There's no sprint race to find out."
