A stroke of luck for Alpine that the start of the second free practice session has been delayed. This is because the French team managed to rebuild Esteban Ocon's car after it sustained damage in FP1 due to the infamous manhole cover.
The damage was so extensive that Alpine had no choice but to deploy the spare chassis. That takes a lot of time, but the engineers did an excellent job. 'The team successfully prepared the spare chassis and rebuilt car #31 after the incident in the first free practice,' Ocon's team reported.
When we will see Ocon and the 19 other drivers back in action is not quite known yet. The FIA aims to start between 02:00 and 02:30 local time. The second free practice session will be extended by 30 minutes, so we should see a total of 90 minutes of action at the Las Vegas Street Circuit.
