The first free practice session at the
Dutch Grand Prix in
Zandvoort has been run. Once again, it was another session that was topped by
Max Verstappen. During the first practice session, the Dutchman was much faster than competitors, including his teammate
Sergio Perez, as well as
Lewis Hamilton and
George Russell, during the beginning of the session.

Nico Hulkenberg caused a red flag during the practice session, sliding off the track and ending up in the gravel.
Lance Stroll also had huge car problems, forcing him to enter his garage early. It was said to be a problem with his internal combustion engine. Teammate Fernando Alonso finished in second place.
Special attention goes to
Ferrari driver Robert Shwartzman, as he was behind the wheel of the SF-23, not
Carlos Sainz. The 23-year-old driver from Israel did not set a hugely impressive time, however, as he finished 19th on the timesheet.
