Pierre Gasly is in his first season at Alpine. Previously, he has driven for Toro Rosso, Red Bull Racing, and then back to Toro Rosso, which later changed to AlphaTauri. So the Frenchman is driving for a factory team for the first time. He says it is not easy to change teams.

While at AlphaTauri Gasly was often better of his teammates, that is not yet the case at Alpine. The Frenchman is 12th in the championship with 16 points. Teammate Esteban Ocon is tenth with 31 points, almost double that.

Gasly on debut Alpine season

Asked by GPblog about his debut season at Alpine, Gasly replied, "You're consistently learning when you're coming in a new environment and inside a new team it's a new manufacturer, it's a new engine, it's a new team, it's new people. I think it's underestimated how much work there is before you get familiar into a new environment."

"All automatism that you build with experience through time with the people with your engineers with your engineering team, these things become with running with races understanding what the car is able to give, understanding what the driver needs, understanding the language between all the engineers and the drivers so this is something we've been working on since the start of the year and I think the team welcomed me in a great way with a very open mind but we can always do better and I'm confident we're going to do better in the second part of the year."
