The
Hungarian Grand Prix promises to be an exciting race this weekend.
Lewis Hamilton and
Max Verstappen are sharper than ever after the Silverstone race and will want to give the competition a run for their money. In recent years the circuit has been a prime spot for Hamilton to take home the points.
2018: Bottas unhappy
Three years ago, Hamilton won convincingly with Mercedes, while teammate
Valtteri Bottas actually caused damage to his fellow drivers. In the closing stages of the race, the Finn drove hard into the back of
Sebastian Vettel's car, before crashing into
Daniel Ricciardo's Red Bull a few laps later. Verstappen had to stop after just a few laps due to engine problems.
2019: Mercedes with thoughtful strategy
Verstappen was very close to a victory in 2019 but failed to do so. The Mercedes team applied a smarter strategy in Hungary, which meant that at the end of the race the Dutchman could do nothing but let Hamilton get ahead. The Red Bull driver, therefore, had to settle for a second final position.
2020: Hamilton supreme
A year later, the same top two in the final standings could be found. Hamilton drove a mighty race, making it impossible for Verstappen to pass the Englishman. He still had to work hard to keep Bottas behind him at the end of the race, but the driver saw that his hard work was not in vain.
