Isack Hadjar and Zak O'Sullivan were looking forward to this day for a long time, and it did not disappoint them. Both juniors drove the necessary miles for Red Bull Racing and Williams respectively. With big smiles, they stepped out of the car.

"Today was a really good day! It was really busy driving in F1 and F2 in the same day but it was a really good experience, it's a big step up from F2 to F1," said Hadjar after his first kilometres in the RB19. "Driving the fastest car in the world was great, it was out of this world, especially in these conditions on track."

The 19-year-old Frenchman is ecstatic, even though this was not his F1 debut. At the Mexican GP, Hadjar was already in action on behalf of AlphaTauri. There he finished seventeenth, just like this Friday in the Red Bull at the Yas Marina Circuit.

O'Sullivan

On behalf of Williams, Zak O'Sullivan stepped into the car. For him, though, it was his first real introduction to an F1 car.

"First and foremost, I really enjoyed today. It was my first time in Abu Dhabi and first time driving a Williams Racing F1 car. I made quite good progress throughout the session, getting on top of the car and the different procedures. Thank you to Williams Racing for giving me the opportunity. I can’t wait for the Young Driver Test on Tuesday, to refine some of the things I’ve learnt from FP1 and make some more progress."

Fastest F1 car in the world, yes. Fastest car in the world... not even close.

Yeah, that was a bit of hyperbole, it's relative to the era in the sport.

Fastest car in the world! Oh be careful Isack certain Redbull fans won't be happy with you, apparently the car is like a Haas and it's all Max!.. : )

He meant that he wasn't driving with Checo's compromised and sabotaged car!

The car is mega fast and a car can be fast, doesn't mean it's easy to extract the pace of the car, that's where the Max part comes in. He's able to extract the full potential of the car just like he did with the car of 2021 that wasn't the fastest package of that season.

Do we have to hear this every week? It's nauseating as it is. "The car is mega fast and a car can be fast, doesn't mean it's easy to extract the pace of the car" 'anyone can jump in and drive it close to the limit' - Jake Dennis on the RB19 When you have an average driver like Perez, who failed to qualify into q3 five times in a row with the fastest F1 car ever, 2 wins only, 2 retirements, still being 2nd in the championship, then it tells you how easy it is to win a title with that car. Max has NEVER needed to extract the full potential of the RB19 because it's been too far ahead as it stands. He has basically spent the entire season cruising (except Singapore where the best he could manage was battling with mid-fielders). I doubt he's ever had to 'extract the full potential' from that car in any race this season. He's not had to defend in one single lap. I f Max was not around, Perez would be champion this season (and only 3 points off in 2022). If that doesn't tell you it's the car, then I dunno what will.

Just made a reply and it didn't post, not going through that again. so to make it short... "Do we have to hear this every week? It's nauseating as it is." - We can say the same about the people continuing saying there's nothing special about Max. "'anyone can jump in and drive it close to the limit' - Jake Dennis on the RB19" - Ok so why is it that the "average driver" Perez can't get it done? and there's a difference between Close to the Limit vs Actual Limit (And then also over driving the car to extract a bit more) "f Max was not around, Perez would be champion this season (and only 3 points off in 2022). If that doesn't tell you it's the car, then I dunno what will." - Sure we can have that same discussion about MERC years of dominance, But seeing as the car is so dominant "it can practically drive itself" - Why did the Juniors do bad compared to other Junior drivers, I mean they didn't even have to try to be top of the session in such a dominant car or they are just below average.

Yeah it's an odd issue with the site (maybe adblock related), i nowadays (almost) always copy what i wrote, then (try to) post, and refresh the page to see if it came up, if not, then paste the text and post again, usually that works. But it is pretty annoying indeed. Sometimes there's a "Forbidden content" warning, but they never really say what was forbidden, and in my case it's always some random word.
