The first two free practices for the
Bahrain Grand Prix are over.
Max Verstappen set the fastest time twice. But afterwards it was also about the performance of a debutant.
Yuki Tsunoda made his first metres in
Formula 1. He did that properly. In the first free practice, he set the fourteenth fastest time. During the second session, he accelerated a lot and finished in seventh position. That performance did not go unnoticed.
'We want to see more of that'
Helmut Marko said to
Motorsport-Total, "Yuki is really a pleasure to watch. Above all, the confidence he exudes is fantastic. I'm sure we'll see a lot more of him in the future." The Japanese driver made the switch from
Formula 2 to the highest racing class this year. Together with
Pierre Gasly he will form the duo for this season. Last year Tsunoda finished third in the Formula 2 standings behind Mick Schumacher and Callum Ilott.
