Lando Norris was enjoying a strong qualifying session, which he looked to end with a second-place finish. Good for the front row of the grid and thus an excellent starting position for Sunday's Grand Prix in Qatar. But the joy was short-lived as the Briton lost his time due to track limits. This left the McLaren driver firmly bitter.

And it showed. Norris appeared heavily disappointed standing in front of Viaplay's camera. With tears in his eyes, he faced the press in the square. Having to start the race from P10 instead of P2 firmly took its toll.

How Norris feels now? "Pissed off," is the short answer from the 23-year-old driver, who had not otherwise seen a replay of the moment in question at the time. "I haven't seen any replays. I just had a correction on oversteer and it went off."

There was little else wrong with the MCL60's pace. "Yes, the team have done a good job. I just messed it up." That there is still plenty of prospect of points this weekend doesn't bother him too much. "I know, but I don't think like that. I just think of the job I'm going to do today, which is put in good laps and not make mistakes. That's all I did today, so not a good day for me." And that's what Norris did, but it was just not good enough.
