One week and we can enjoy the sound of roaring engines again. In the run-up to a new season the necessary changes take place. This year is no different. On the contrary, only three teams will continue with the same duo as last year.
Mercedes,
Williams and Alfa Romeo are the teams that did not make any changes. The drivers also stayed loyal and so they can build on last season's partnership. So we see
Lewis Hamilton and
Valtteri Bottas at Mercedes.
Nicholas Latifi and
George Russell remain at Williams. And Alfa Romeo continues with Kimi Räikkönen and
Antonio Giovinazzi.
Changes
There are three drivers who will move on from
Formula 2 this season. Nikita Mazepin, Mick Schumacher and Yuki Tsunoda will make their debut in the highest racing class with Haas and AlphaTauri. Retired Fernando Alonso returns to
Formula 1 after a three-year absence.
Ferrari replaced
Sebastian Vettel for
Carlos Sainz. Vettel in turn left for the Aston Martin team. Because Sainz left
McLaren there was an empty seat. Therefore
Daniel Ricciardo decided to leave Renault and join McLaren. The last transfer is that of
Sergio Perez. The Mexican traded Racing Point for Red Bull.
