Penske Motorsport, with Porsche, won the 24 Hours of Daytona for the first time since 1969. This victory came after an exciting final part, in which Felipe Nasr was involved in a duel with Cadillac driver Tom Blomqvist. Indy Dontje surprised in the GTD class by taking victory for Winward Motorsport along with Russell Ward, Daniel Morad, and Phillip Elis.
It was an exciting finish. Felipe Nasr and Tom Blomqvist were driving the leading cars at the time, and they traded places for the lead in the final minutes of the race.
In the end, Nasr prevailed, giving his team, Penske Motorsport, victory in the GTP class for the first time since 1969. The finish was not entirely flawless: confusion ensued when race control indicated that the final lap was starting while there was still time left on the clock. Nasr crossed the finish line as the winner, but everyone raced another lap just to be sure. It changed nothing in the final standings: Penske won, with drivers Felipe Nasr, Dane Cameron, Josef Newgarden and Matt Campbell.
In the LMP2 class, the Oreca 07-Gibson, number 18 of Era Motorsport, took the victory, with Ryan Dalziel, Dwight Merriman, Connor Zilisch, and Christian Rasmussen at the wheel. Ferrari triumphed in the GTD Pro class with the number 62 GT3 car of Risi Competizione, driven by Alessandro Pier Guidi, Davide Rigon, Daniel Serra, and James Calado.
