Red Bull boss reacts to Jos: "Fathers of drivers always have an opinion"

Jos Verstappen said last week that Red Bull Racing needs to improve if son Max is to compete for the world title this season. Jos saw Mercedes turning the tide and was a bit worried about a new Mercedes domination in 2021. Christian Horner reacts a week later to the statements of Verstappen sr.

Red Bull seems to have its affairs in order in qualifying than during the races on Sunday. According to the former Formula 1 driver this is just an illusion. "I personally think Mercedes is a lot faster in qualifying as well, but Max squeezes so much out of it that it's still so close.

"Fathers of drivers always have an opinion", Horner said. "Of course Jos is better educated and has more knowledge than most fathers. It is clear that Max drives the wheels of the car, but the car does not go faster than it can. Max gets everything out of it, drives on the limit and does a great job", he is quoted by De Telegraaf.

Verstappen frustrated

The start of the GP weekend in Monaco was not what the Verstapps were hoping for. The difference with Ferrari was four-tenths in the second free practice and Max Verstappen didn't hide his frustration Thursday afternoon.
