It's confirmed. After a bit of a delay, we finally have a full grid for the 2021 season. Only Mercedes and
Lewis Hamilton had to confirm, but a contract extension on Monday morning ends the weeks of waiting.
Hamilton will compete with teammate
Valtteri Bottas for another Mercedes world title. The competition seems to come mainly from
Red Bull Racing with
Max Verstappen and newcomer
Sergio Perez.
Speaking of newcomers; there are only three teams entering 2021 with exactly the same line-up as last season. At
Williams,
George Russell and
Nicholas Latifi have managed to keep their place, at Alfa Romeo,
Kimi Raikkonen and
Antonio Giovinazzi continue. Mercedes are now the third and final team to join that group. The other seven teams have undergone significant transformations.
We can also expect an exciting silly season for 2022 (when the new regulations enter the premier class of motorsport). Many contracts will then expire again. However, things are far from being complete yet; first, we are going to enjoy the names below for 23 Grands Prix weekends!
