After the Italian Grand Prix there was a lot of criticism of the FIA. Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto felt that the governing body could have made decisions quicker and Christian Horner also said that there was'more than enough time' to have a restart. What do Max Verstappen and George Russell think of finishing under the safety car?
Verstappen said he too would have preferred to finish under normal conditions, but he feels what happened at Monza was mainly an unfortunate coincidence. The Red Bull Racing driver cited that Daniel Ricciardo's McLaren was stuck in gear and therefore lost many minutes. The location of the Australian's MCL36 was also very unfavourable, as a crane had to be used.
"that's why I guess they just run out of time. So, I guess it was very unfortunate," Verstappen said in the FIA press conference. "Normally, I think everyone wants to finish under green flag. But yeah, unfortunately, we were just short of laps. But I mean, I had a new Soft as well so I was not too worried. I mean, even if it was one lap shootout."
Verstappen was then asked if he thought the safety car rules should be changed to prevent a repeat. "You run out of laps, and then they still had to get rid of a few cars in between which then… you need them to catch up. We ran out of laps, they needed to extend the race but that's not possible." So Verstappen is a lot less critical, as is Mercedes chief executive Toto Wolff, by the way.
George Russell concurs with the words of the world championship leader. "Yeah, the same. You can't extend the race. Following Abu Dhabi, we had some discussions about races ending under the safety car. I think we looked at every single race since ’98 and it happened 10 times. Maybe that's wrong, don't quote me on that but maybe it's worth looking at. But you can't extend the race without enough so it’s just how it is."
I've made $1250 so far this week working online and I'm a full time student. I'm using an online business opportunity I heard about and I'AM made such great money. It's really user friendly and I'm just so happy that I found out about it. Here's what I do, .for more information simply. Open this link thank you.........>>> cashboosterapp1.pages.dev/

And that's exactly correct, at AD Max after the race wouldnbe saying the same. The rules are as follows and teams and drivers and fans understand how the rules world at AD the rules where not followed.. Article 48.12 of the 2021 sporting regulations says that: “If the clerk of the course considers it safe to do so, and the message ‘lapped cars may now overtake’ has been sent to all competitors via the official messaging system, any cars that have been lapped by the leader will be required to pass the cars on the lead lap and the safety car.” The rules are clear, its not some lapped cars ,or as per the RD discretion, its all cars that the lead car has lapped must unlap, and that's how this raced was . The fact is AD was blatantly wrong and we have a WC that won because of a mistake by the RD
Max was ready here #44 wasn't in AD!!.............Max is going for 14 wins this year!!..............
Unfortunately the adults have already engaged in a meaning full discussion, and as usual you have some juvenile comments which don't deserve responding too wothnany serious thought. Carry on.
Max is going to break the record of so many wins......That's going to be something hey Warrior.............lol...
Lewis's fan should be grateful that the race finished under safety car cause if we go motor racing , their GOAT Lewis probably will experience Zandvoort Deja vu
"You can't extend"? Isn't there a fuel reserve required for sampling? Couldn't they wave the sampling under extended race conditions?
No, then you’re AD’ying the rules I guess. I think that’s a technical requirement that should never change…… and “Waivering” any rule to a single person to decide is maybe why the sport is having this long long overdue conversation
It isn't a good feeling for the drivers or the fans, however, in today's race it would not have altered the podium It would be nice to find a way to finish every race under green. I can't comprehend the safety car driver picking up George and holding all those cars back for so long. How did that even happen? Is he getting too old?
No Mikey no, that is so not right! Everybody except Mercedes want to finish under green flag.
Lol… here’s the response: “Uhm Toto, it’s called Motor Racing!”
