Although neither Mercedes car were really in contention for Pole Position, Mercedes boss
Toto Wolff is relaxed and confident for the
United States Grand Prix tomorrow.
After a middling Qualifying session at the United States Grand Prix where
Lewis Hamilton and
George Russell set the fifth and sixth fastest times respectively,
Toto Wolff sees the optimistic side of things.
"I think the update works. We had a lap in us that was three tenths quicker but the car is so tricky to drive," quoted the Mercedes team boss.
The Mercedes W13 has typically ran much better in the race than one-lap speed, and Wolff certainly knows this.
"For tomorrow, we could be part of some exciting games."
Respect for Mateschitz
The other news of the day was the unfortunate passing of Red Bull Co-founder
Dietrich Mateschitz. As a fellow compatriot, and head of rival brand, Wolff was moved by his pasing.
"He is one of the most incredible entrepreneurs in the world, created a market that didn't exist with energy drinks. Made one of the best brands in the world. There's no one like him, it's a sad day for us Austrians."
