The second day of the Grand Prix weekend at Monza has arrived, and we will kick off with the second and final free practice session of the weekend. What can the drivers do with this hour of free practice ahead of the second sprint of the season?
Prior to today's headlining event, the sprint race, the drivers will first have an hour of free practice. However, they will have to do this in the setting determined on Friday for qualifying.
After the qualifying battle on the historic Italian circuit, it was Valtteri Bottas who took pole position for the sprint with a difference of around four-tenths to the rest. With this, the Finn continued what already started as a strong weekend for Mercedes from the first free practice onwards.
On a track where a Mercedes car has been on pole position for the last seven years, Max Verstappen was not dissatisfied with his third starting position. The driver knows that the weekend in Italy will be all about damage control, minimising the blow he is likely to take on Sunday.
