Racing Point seems to have built a car that can be seen as one of the outsiders in the coming season. Not surprising of course, because the new RP20 seems to look a lot like the
Mercedes of 2019.
The car with which
Lewis Hamilton became world champion now appears painted in pink and completely taken over by Racing Point. It is allowed because copying is not something new in
Formula 1. Critics wonder if the team actually built the car themselves.
It is, of course, a huge relief for the Racing Point drivers. The team had to deal with a concept that had been fully developed in recent years so that
Sergio Perez and
Lance Stroll fell further and further away in 2019. However, in 2020 that can all be different, with the new RP20.
"A lot can happen in Formula 1 in three weeks, but it is, of course, a good sign that we are just as fast as Ferrari. I don't know what they do, of course, but we'll see in Australia. The car feels good in any case, but I hear that with everyone. In Melbourne we will really see how everyone is doing," Lance Stroll told GPblog.
