Jarno Opmeer has won the F1 Esports trophy for the second time in a row and his first with Mercedes. This way Mercedes still manages to win a title with the drivers.
Success for Mercedes
Opmeer has been competing in the Formula 1 Esports Series since 2019 and was competitive from day one. In his first year, he finished fourth on behalf of Renault, but in his second year, he managed to win the championship on behalf of Alfa Romeo. The Dutchman earned himself a seat at the top team in Formula 1: Mercedes.
While Mercedes just missed out on the world drivers' title in 'real life', Opmeer still managed to secure a Mercedes title. He finished fourth in the last race in Brazil and that was enough to prolong his title. Teammate Dani Moreno finished fourth in the drivers' standings and together they secured the teams' title. This makes Opmeer the second Dutchman to win a title with Mercedes after Nyck de Vries became Formula E world champion on behalf of the German team.
