Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff are under fire after the pair opted not to attend the FIA gala in Paris. Red Bull team boss Christian Horner responds to their absence.
Despite Mercedes deciding not to take their protest to court, the team remain angry about the decisions made at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Wolff and Hamilton did not attend the official awards ceremony last week.
According to the regulations, the top three drivers in the championship are obliged to attend the event. Whether Hamilton will be punished is still unclear. Team boss Wolff said in an earlier interview that the result could be too painful.
'Value lies with constructors' championship'
"I think it's a shame", Horner tells The Telegraph. "The Constructors’ Championship has so much fiscal value to it - it’s where all the money is distributed."
James Allison was present to collect the trophy on behalf of Mercedes. "While the prestige is with the drivers, the value is with the constructors", Horner says. Valtteri Bottas was present to collect his award for third place.
