Wolff expects problems for Mercedes and Red Bull with four teams
- GPblog.com
Red Bull Racing and Mercedes dominated the podium with Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen in 2021. Toto Wolff expects this to be different next year, he says in an interview with Autosport.com.
The new regulations will make things more difficult for both teams in 2022. The future cars are built so that the drivers can drive closer to each other, which will make it harder for Hamilton and Verstappen to get away from the competition. According to the Mercedes team boss, this will ensure that other teams will also end up on the podium.
Although it remains to be seen which teams will be able to deal with the situation and start the season well, Wolff expressed his expectations in the interview. The Austrian thinks that Ferrari, McLaren, Aston Martin and Alpine have a good chance to get close to Mercedes and Red Bull. Wolff even expects that these teams can compete for the world title.
Hamilton hopes to win eighth world title
If Hamilton is to be seen in Formula 1 in 2022 he will do everything he can to win his eighth world title. Although Wolff has a lot of faith in his top driver, the team boss does not think the Briton will have an easy time of it. The new Formula 1 season will therefore bring many exciting races.
