Domenicali curious how Verstappen will perform as world champion

In his first season as Formula One boss, he immediately got a new world champion. Stefano Domenicali saw Max Verstappen win from Lewis Hamilton in one of the most exciting seasons ever. The Italian is therefore very satisfied with the season.
Verstappen deserves the title
In an interview with F1 Insider Domenicali looks back on the season. Despite the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic, Formula 1 managed to hold a record 22 races. "Now it's easy to look back on an incredible championship, but it was a massive task for everyone involved." The hard work was rewarded with huge interest in the battle between Verstappen and Hamilton.
In the last race of the year, Verstappen managed to grab the title by overtaking Hamilton on the last lap thanks to a safety car situation. As a result, the race was not without controversy, but according to Domenicali, Verstappen deserved the title. "Max has grown tremendously in recent years. In 2021 he was constantly driving against the limit."
Verstappen at the start as world champion
In 2022, Verstappen will be on the grid as world champion and Domenicali is eager to see how the Dutchman will perform as reigning world champion. "I'm looking forward to seeing him in that new situation. He has fulfilled his dream."
Domenicali hopes to see another duel between Verstappen and Hamilton in 2022, but he also hopes other drivers can get involved in the title fight. According to the 56-year-old, there are many young and talented drivers. It remains to be seen if the new cars will enable more drivers to compete for the victories and the title.
