Valtteri Bottas seems to be brimming with self-confidence with his latest statements. The Finn is also critical of his last five years with Mercedes. According to him, he did not get the maximum out of it.
In an interview with The-Race.com the former Mercedes driver says: "I honestly think that on my best days I'm unbeatable, whether it's the race or qualifying. Unfortunately I don't always have the best days." The Finn reveals that he thinks he has it in him. It just didn't always come out.
Bottas too often to beat
Bottas says goodbye to Mercedes and teammate Lewis Hamilton after five years. For no less than five consecutive years, the driver was able to contribute to the constructors' title for his team. The Finn took ten victories, twenty pole positions and no less than 58 podiums. Bottas admitted that teammate and seven times world champion Lewis Hamilton was too much of a handful.
The brand new Alfa Romeo driver says he has not exceeded his expectations in his five years with Mercedes. This is partly due to the fact that his expectations of himself are particularly high. The Finn stresses that nobody has just perfect days. However, he does conclude that he had too many of those days that were not perfect.
