'Verstappen wants to show he doesn't have the title just because of Masi'

Max Verstappen has his first world title in his pocket and can therefore continue his career with peace of mind. The big goal is achieved. Yet Jenson Button thinks that the Dutchman still has something to prove in the coming season.
Pressure off shoulders after world title
Verstappen has won his first world title in Formula 1 with Red Bull Racing in 2021. Years of hard work with his father Jos Verstappen has finally paid off. After a world title in karting and several victories in F1, this was finally the crowning glory of their work.
For Verstappen, a burden visibly fell from his shoulders after winning the world title. There were many emotions in the man who normally remains sober. It became clear that the pressure also plays a role for him, but that he always knows how to hide it. Button is still impressed by Max as a driver.
Verstappen must continue
''You know for me he’s the fastest, most gifted driver of anyone. But it’s whether he can improve on that and build himself into someone like Lewis who is the complete package,'' the former Formula One driver told Sky Sports. According to the Brit, it is also not the case that it is now completely finished for Max. The Dutchman now has something to prove.
''He will be a little bit more relaxed himself after the season. As we've been talking about the last race and the way that it was won, I'm sure he wants to come out fighting and fight for that victory from the word go. It’s a World Championship that he’s won, but I'm sure he wants to go and win another World Championship so he can go: ‘Look it wasn't down to Michael Masi','' Button concluded.
