Albon expects a lot from Williams: 'I want to be the leader here'

Not having an F1 seat after two years of F1 doesn't mean you disappear from the Formula One paddock for good. Earlier Esteban Ocon proved that and now Alexander Albon can also speak about that. The former Red Bull Racing driver was Max Verstappen's teammate for a year and a half when he had to make way for Sergio Perez in 2021.
In that year he remained with the team as a reserve driver, but when it became clear that there was no seat available for the Thai driver in 2022 either, he and Red Bull went looking for another team. Williams turned out to be a suitable candidate and so Albon will drive for the British team this year.
Albon wants to become leader at Williams
Coming from a top team, Albon has high expectations for himself, he explained at Formel1.de. "I see myself as an important link for the team. I want to become the leader and help develop the car as much as possible." The Williams driver acknowledges that his gap year at Red Bull has made him more mature.
"I had a year for that. It was a short year, but perfect to reflect and look at things and how I could do them differently." How much Albon has learned from his year on the sidelines, he will have to prove from next week when the official test week starts in Bahrain.
