Max Verstappen managed to grab his 21st victory in Formula 1 in Saudi Arabia. On the circuit of Jeddah he managed to overtake competitor Charles Leclerc after a fantastic final battle. Verstappen is happy with the fact that he managed to pass the Ferrari in the nick of time.
"It was really tough, but a good race. We were battling hard at the front. We tried to play the long game. They were really quick through the corners and we were quick on the straights. But the tyres were wearing out quite quickly around here. You could see at the end that we were quicker. It wasn't easy then playing tricks in the last corner but manage to stay ahead but even after that he was fast in the DRS," Leclerc said in a conversation with David Coulthard.
Alexander Albon stopped his car with a flat tyre, causing a yellow flag, which didn't make it any easier for Verstappen. "Then with the last lap yellow flags just knowing how much you should lift or not. It was tough. Finally we have kick-started the season," he reminisced about last week's DNF in Bahrain.
Furthermore, Verstappen indicates that it is much harder to time your attack.
