Crowd at the stewards after FP2: Hamilton, Stroll and Vettel on call
- GPblog.com
The first two sessions in Australia are over and although most drivers and teams were able to do quite a few laps, it was somewhat turbulent practice. Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton and Lance Stroll have to go for a meeting with the stewards.
In the first free practice George Russell had many complaints about Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. According to the Brit, the Red Bull drivers were in front of him on the track too often. Frustrated, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the drivers who got in his way. The race direction did nothing about it. Race control may take action in the case of Vettel who ended his first practice of the year with a stalled engine and rode a lap of honor on a scooter.
In free practice two, the race control also took a somewhat stricter approach. Both Stroll and Hamilton were called to the carpet by the stewards. The Mercedes and Aston Martin driver must report for holding up another car in turn 13. Hamilton held up Stroll and Stroll in turn held up Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz in the same turn at the same time. Should any reprimands be handed out, it will probably be Hamilton who will have to pay the price, as according to the official complaints he was driving in front of the other two drivers.
