What time does the 2022 Miami Formula One Grand Prix start?
- GPblog.com
The Miami Grand Prix is scheduled for this weekend and for European viewers that means staying up late. Check out the times for the upcoming race weekend in America here.
Second race in America
For the fifth race in the 2022 Formula One season, F1 heads to the United States, but it's not for the race in Austin, Texas. Whereas for years the race at the Circuit of the Americas was the only American GP on the calendar, a new race has been added to the 2022 calendar on the streets of Miami.
Around the Hard Rock Stadium, a street race will be held in Miami, giving Liberty Media the desired expansion in America. A race in Las Vegas in 2023 will expand F1 even further, but that GP is still a year away.
Late night for European viewers
Due to the time difference with the US, European viewers face a long weekend. On Friday, the first free practice session only starts at 7:30pm, with the second session of the weekend starting at 10:30pm. This is the last session to start, as the sessions on Saturday and Sunday start a little earlier.
This weekend is also a 'normal' race weekend, which means that after the third free practice at 6pm on Saturday, we only have the qualification in the late evening. The session that determines who will start from pole starts at 9pm. The Grand Prix is on Sunday and it starts at 8:30pm.
