Carlos Sainz could be satisfied after the qualifying session of the Miami Grand Prix. The Spaniard grabbed the second time and thus assured himself of a place behind his teammate Charles Leclerc. The qualifying session therefore gave him confidence for Sunday.
For the Spaniard, it was by no means easy to do well in qualifying, he told us after the race. "Just building a bit from a pretty heavy crash yesterday it wasn't easy at all to get the confidence back on such a difficult circuit like this new one in Miami," he said. "I kept it cool until Q3 and pulled out a couple of good laps."
Sainz focuses on Sunday's race
For a while it looked like Sainz would go over Leclerc's time, but during the last sector, he lost a bit on his competitor. It ensured that he had to settle for a second starting position, with which he had no problem.
"It wasnt enough for pole but coming from where I was yesterday I will take it. It is going to be an interesting day. I haven't done a long run with fuel in the car but feeling confident in the car."
