Although he did not drive the fastest times, Carlos Sainz' team does come out of Friday's Monaco as favorites. The Spaniard looks back on a day with two strong practice sessions that he believes are promising.

His teammate Charles Leclerc was the fastest today, but Sainz did not miss much on the Monegasque. In free practice two there was only 44 thousandths of a second difference between the two Ferrari drivers. With that, they left Red Bull Racing behind on the first day of the Monaco GP weekend. And that is promising.

Sainz predicts exciting qualifying

At Sky Sports, Sainz reports, "An encouraging day after we were able to finish our program and do well on track. Monaco is always a demanding track, but also very exciting and a fun circuit to test the car to the maximum." Sainz thinks qualifying is going to be very exciting on Saturday. Not only because qualifying is so important in Monaco, but also because he and his teammate are very close.

Sainz: "So far we are happy with the work we have done and the way we improved every time. Now it all comes down to the small details and finding the perfect balance for tomorrow's qualifying."
