Alonso warns FIA: 'Have to draw the right conclusions'

Mick Schumacher had a severe crash in Monaco not for the first time this season. The young German already made a hard hit during qualifying in Jeddah and in Monaco his car even broke in half during the race. Fernando Alonso thinks the new cars will cause heavier impacts and warns the FIA.
Terrifying crashes of Schumacher
"The accident we saw was very serious, but fortunately he was fine," the Spaniard tells at Nextgen-Auto.com. In the crash in Monaco, Schumacher's Haas was split in two. The gearbox came loose from the chassis.
Formula 1 cars are getting heavier and heavier, and the current generation of cars is again a lot heavier than the previous ones. Alonso, active in Formula 1 since 2001, has even seen the weight of the cars increase from 600 to 800 kilograms during his career. The Alpine driver thinks that the increased weight has played a part in, for example, Schumacher's heavy crashes this season.
FIA must draw the right conclusions
As a result of these crashes, Alonso believes that Formula 1 and the FIA should draw the right conclusions. "It seems to me that the car didn't split in two because there was something wrong with it. The problem is not the cars themselves, but their weight," Alonso believes. "They are very heavy, currently over 800 kilograms, so the inertia when they hit the wall is much greater than before. Maybe this experience will teach us something."
