Charles Leclerc started from pole position at the Monaco Grand Prix, but ended up finishing outside of a podium spot with a fourth place finish. Afterwards, the Monegasque was therefore disappointed, as he was hoping for more in his home race. However, according to Tobias Grüner, he put in a unique performance, he told Auto, Motor und Sport.

Leclerc also experienced a disappointing race weekend last season. Due to a crash during qualifying, the driver was not given the opportunity to appear at the start on Sunday at the time, so he finished without points. However, this was not an incident, the journalist stressed.

"There was no joy after the race," he states in surprise. "Fourth place was the best result Leclerc had ever achieved in his home race. In two Formula 2 races and three Grand Prix weekends in Formula 1, the 24-year-old had not seen the chequered flag once in the Principality."

Leclerc and Verstappen remain close

This year he managed to secure himself twelve points in Monaco, finishing just behind Max Verstappen. Both drivers remain close to each other in the world championship for the time being, which means it promises to be exciting again in a week's time in Azerbaijan.
