Long runs in Azerbaijan

Whereas in FP1 some fast laps were already seen, the focus of this Friday's second practice session will shift a bit more to the long runs. Race simulations will be completed, with a close eye on tyre degradation. The teams are always looking for the middle ground between a fast car in qualifying or a fast car in the race.

Ferrari will be hoping that the set-up in terms of long runs is a lot better than during the second free practice in Monaco. Then the men from Maranello came out of the cold and were several tenths of a second slower per lap. They eventually managed to fix that a day later, but a good start to the weekend is more than welcome.

All teams will be hoping that their drivers don't end up with their car in the wall. The street circuit of Baku is very treacherous and in recent years we have seen several drivers crash during the free practice sessions. Especially with this year's budget cap of $140 million, inflation and the fact that the car must be repaired again on Saturday, no one will be hoping for red flags.
