Sainz felt the pressure: "You can imagine the nerves"

After 150 starts, Carlos Sainz finally managed to win his first Grand Prix. It was not without controversy, but in the end the Spaniard won at Silverstone ahead of Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton.
Sainz takes his first Formula One win after a tremendous race in Britain. For a long time it looked like Charles Leclerc would take the win, but a late safety car and a switch to soft tyres helped the Spaniard to his first victory.
Sainz can hardly believe it
" I don't know what to say, it's amazing. First race win in 150 races later with Ferrari in Silverstone. I can not ask for more. It is a very special day. A day that I will never forget. A very special weekend in general," Sainz said after the race.
"It was not easy, I struggled quite a bit with the balance especially on the first stint on the mediums. Max forced us to push a lot through the high speed. I opened the front left. Even with all of that I stayed believing that it could still happen. Then all of a sudden he safety car gave me an opportunity to get back in it. You can imagine the nerves at the start, getting it down and then the win," Sainz added.
