Ferrari cause surprise in title race with Red Bull: 'Imprudent'
- GPblog.com
Carlos Sainz was the big winner of the British Grand Prix. It earned Ferrari points in the Constructors' Championship but also raised questions about the Italian team's title race with Red Bull Racing this season.
After the problems with Verstappen's car it seemed that Ferrari would push Leclerc forward for the win. The Monegasque was still 49 points behind in the world championship standings prior to the race weekend, but a victory would allow him to make up ground.
It was Sainz, however, who took the win and put 25 points to his name. Jolyon Palmer writes on Formula1.com that the people at Ferrari need to talk to each other in the coming days to find a solution.
"Red Bull have faced questions about team orders, Mercedes have in the past as well when title fighting with Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas at the wheel. But it seems Ferrari are trying their best to let their drivers fight," the racing driver stated. "It's something that on the face of it is good to see, but that is also beginning to look imprudent when dealing with a 49-point deficit to Max Verstappen."
Leclerc best driver at Ferrari according to Palmer
Palmer believes that Leclerc is Ferrari's undisputed first man, which means the Italians should quickly make the decision to put all their arrows on him. It remains to be seen, however, whether Mattia Binotto's team will choose to do so soon.
