Alonso still thinks F1 is too boring: 'It's all about Red Bull and Ferrari'

Fernando Alonso made his comeback to Formula One hoping that the new rules would bring the field closer together, but the 40-year-old Spaniard has been somewhat disappointed. In his tireless enthusiasm for the sport, he continues to set his sights on leading the field.
Alonso had hoped to be closer to the top teams but, speaking to the NOS that little has changed in that regard. "Unfortunately, Formula 1 is still very predictable. Everything revolves around Red Bull and Ferrari. Only Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz and Sergio Pérez can win," says the Alpine driver.
Alonso still thinks F1 is too boring
The two-time world champion acknowledges that the races have become more interesting and that the new generation of F1 cars makes it easier to fight, but still finds the sport 'too boring' and stresses that there will always be teams that are faster than the rest.
The Spaniard, who celebrates his 41st birthday on 29 June, therefore regrets that there are still two clear-cut top teams and had somewhere hoped he could be fighting for podium positions by now. "Of course it feels great when I can shine, like in Canada when I started alongside Max on the front row," he continues.
However, his hunger for the top step of the podium remains undiminished and those who know Alonso a little know that the motorsport icon will not be sitting on his hands. "There is a real opportunity here now that all teams have to work with the same maximum budget. It is up to me and Alpine to make it happen."
