During the Grand Prix weekend in Austria, it emerged that there had been many reports of unwelcome behaviour from spectators. In particular, sexual harassment of female fans was reported. Toto Wolff has a clear message for spectators who behave in this way.
The Mercedes team boss believes that fans who are racist, sexist or homophobic should "f*** off" and stay home. But he also calls for caution, stressing that a few bad apples spoil it for the majority of fans who can behave.
Wolff has message for annoying fans
"If you are a real Formula 1 fan, whatever team, whatever driver, you can’t be a racist and you can’t be homophobic, you can’t be sexist because you don’t fit to F1, and we don’t want you," reads the Austrian's clear message in conversation withThe Race.
On the other hand, Wolff warns that one should not judge all fans on the behaviour of a few 'drunk dumbassess'. "We shouldn’t condemn the 99.9% of fans that come here," he continued. According to Wolff, there will always be idiots around and he hopes that those who are not part of that group had a great weekend. "You need to report them [the perpetrators] to the security if you can and [they should] read my sentence – ‘we don’t want you, f*** off’," said the Mercedes team boss.
