Nyck de Vries was able to get into Lewis Hamilton 's car during FP1, but according to Toto Wolff he cannot count on a permanent seat with Mercedes. Nevertheless, De Vries had a great time and looks back on a successful practice session.
De Vries ended the session in ninth place, conceding five tenths to George Russell. Throughout practice, the Dutchman held his own and regularly clocked faster times than his temporary teammate. "It was very hot," De Vries began on Sky Sports. "It was a really cool and great experience."

The 27-year-old driver from Sneek knows the Circuit Paul Ricard well, and notes how different it feels with the new generation of F1 cars. "It was really cool to feel the downforce and speed and get used to fast cars again. The level of grip is very different," he explained.
De Vries is left with a good feeling from the practice session. "I felt like I adapted fairly quickly," he continues. "I felt the whole session was very competitive and actually felt good. I was disappointed with the second on the soft. But generally it was a good session."
