Leclerc grumbles: 'I struggled massively with the tyres'

Charles Leclerc will start the Hungarian Grand Prix from third position on Sunday afternoon. The Monegasque tried hard during qualifying to take pole position, but Carlos Sainz and George Russell proved to be faster.
Prior to the race weekend, Max Verstappen and Leclerc seemed to be fighting it out together once again as to who would start from the front. Nothing was further from the truth, however, as Russell managed to squeeze out a great lap and take Mercedes' first pole position of the season.
For Leclerc, meanwhile, it was clear that Ferrari were not performing as well as they could on Saturday afternoon. "Today has not been a great day," the driver admitted honestly afterwards. "I've been struggling massively with the tyres and just had a lot of inconsistency to put the tyres in the right window in these conditions. So, I struggled to put a lap together."
Leclerc hopeful for race in Hungary
However, Leclerc is positive about the rest of the weekend. "We will look into it, but I am pretty sure that we have the pace in the car to come back to the front tomorrow. We will focus on that and hopefully have a better Sunday."
