Max Verstappen achieved an amazing feat in the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Dutchman started the race from P10, but managed to fight his way to the front and beat his competition. For the Dutchman, the victory also came as a surprise.
"I was hoping I could get close to a podium," he said afterwards. "Very tricky conditions out there but I think we had a really good strategy. Always reactive and pitting at the rights time. Really good out laps and even with the 360 spin we won the race."
Verstappen shocked by spin in the race
Just after overtaking Charles Leclerc, things seemed to go badly wrong for Verstappen. The driver lost control of the car, but was soon able to regain grip. This allowed him to continue his car and still took the victory.
"I was struggling with the shifts and clutch. We had to change a few things to not burn the clutch and that cost us some performance and that led to the spin. It was a lot of fun out there," explained Verstappen, who kept Lewis Hamilton and George Russell behind him.
