Red Bull updates after all, Ferrari lags behind competitor
- GPblog.com
Mercedes has presented a huge list of upgrades ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix. Red Bull Racing will also present one update, while Ferrari will stick to circuit-specific modifications.
Mercedes impresses
Prior to each Grand Prix weekend in 2022, teams must report what changes they have made to the car. The FIA presents a list of all updates. Mercedes has brought a large list of four updates. The German team has a new front wing, new parts for the floor and a new rear wing.
Red Bull Racing does not come to Spa-Francorchamps empty handed either. The team of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez has brought a new rear suspension with the aim of reducing 'aerodynamic losses' there. It has also brought a special engine cover, specifically for the race in Belgium to better cool the engine.
Ferrari saves on updates
The updates that Ferrari bring are few and far between. The Italian team has only brought two circuit specific wings. A new rear wing and a new 'Beam Wing' have been brought in to achieve higher top speeds on the Spa straights.
McLaren has presented the biggest list prior to the GP of Belgium. The Woking-based team is bringing no fewer than eight new parts, although five of these are specific to Spa-Francorchamps. The other three real updates are for the diffuser, wings on the back of the car and the front suspension.
