Nyck de Vries has been chosen to replace
Alexander Albon for the remainder of the race weekend in Italy. The Dutchman will make his racing debut in
Formula 1.
De Vries will race for
Williams in Italy as a replacement for Albon. On Friday, the Dutchman drove for Aston Martin in FP1. The British-Thai driver will not be in action for the rest of this weekend. Albon has appendicitis and will therefore no longer be able to drive at Monza.
Williams confirmed Albon was currently being treated for it in hospital. Williams reports that Albon is otherwise feeling well and wishes him a speedy recovery.
Replacement
De Vries is the second driver to provide a substitute in 2022.
Nico Hulkenberg replaced
Sebastian Vettel at Aston Martin for the first two races of the season.
